Afghanistan reports 300 new COVID-19 cases

KABUL, May 7 (Xinhua) -- A total of 300 new COVID-19 cases were registered in Afghanistan over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of patients infected with the virus to 61,755 in the country, the Public Health Ministry said in a statement on Friday.

Ten patients died due to the disease over the period, bringing the COVID-19 related deaths to 2,683 since the outbreak of the pandemic in February last year in the country, the statement added.

According to the statement, 58 patients recovered over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of recovered ones to 54,019 in the country.

The ministry called on Afghan citizens to follow the necessary guidelines including wearing masks to stay safe and encouraged people to get vaccinated to check the virus. Enditem
