Malaysia reports 5,793 new COVID-19 cases, 76 new deaths

KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported another 5,793 new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said on Saturday, bringing the national total to 652,204.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that six of the new cases are imported and 5,787 are local transmissions.

Another 76 more deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 3,844.

Some 8,334 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 572,113 or 87.7 percent of all cases.

Of the remaining 76,247 active cases, 914 are being held in intensive care and 459 of those are in need of assisted breathing. Enditem
