Vietnam's foreign trade up 24.4 pct in 9 months

HANOI, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam posted an estimated foreign trade value of 483.17 billion U.S. dollars in the first nine months of this year, up 24.4 percent year on year, with a trade deficit of 2.13 billion U.S. dollars, the country's General Statistics Office announced Wednesday.

Specifically, the export revenue stood at 240.52 billion U.S. dollars, up 18.8 percent, while the import revenue surged 30.5 percent year on year to 242.65 billion U.S. dollars.

The United States remained Vietnam's biggest importer with turnovers of 69.8 billion U.S. dollars, followed by China with 38.5 billion U.S. dollars and the European Union with 28.8 billion U.S. dollars, said the office.

China was Vietnam's largest exporter with turnovers of 81.3 billion U.S. dollars, followed by South Korea with 40.2 billion U.S. dollars and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations with 30.7 billion U.S. dollars, according to the office. Enditem
