Authorities arrest 5 IS operatives in Afghanistan's eastern Paktia province

GARDEZ, Afghanistan, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Security forces have arrested five persons on charge of affiliation with Daesh or the hardliner Islamic State (IS) group in the eastern Paktia province, a provincial official Khaleqyar Ahmadzai said Monday.

During a special operation of the security forces five members of Daesh group were captured from Ahmad Abad district on Sunday night, Amadzai said.

All the five arrested men, according to the official have admitted to their affiliation with the Islamic State outfit.

The arrest is taking place in the wake of series of bomb blasts in the eastern Nangarhar, Kabul and northern Kunduz province over the past couple of weeks and killing scores of people for which the hardliner Islamic State group has claimed responsibility. Enditem
