Foreigners buy S.Korean stocks in 5 months

SEOUL, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Foreign investors bought South Korean stocks in five months in September, with foreign funds continuing to flow into the local bond market, central bank data showed Thursday.

Foreign funds worth 2.42 billion U.S. dollars flowed into the domestic stock market in September, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

It was the first inflow in five months, after recording a net outflow of 8.23 billion dollars in May, 440 million dollars in June, 3.06 billion dollars in July and 4.45 billion dollars in August each.

Foreigners purchased local bonds worth 4.6 billion dollars in September, remaining net buyer in the domestic bond market for nine straight months.

Premium on credit default swap (CDS), which gauges the five-year sovereign credit risk, averaged 18 basis points in September, unchanged from the previous month. Enditem
