KABUL, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- About a dozen Afghan provinces, including Kabul province, where the country's national capital city is located, have had their power restored, the Afghan national power company said Thursday.

The Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) technical personnel solved a serious technical problem and reconnected electricity imported from Uzbekistan to those provinces along with the power network by midday on Thursday, DABS said in a statement.

The technical failure occurred on Wednesday night along with the imported power grid in Dand-e-Shahabuddin district of northern Baghlan province, 160 km in the north of Kabul, according to the statement.

The war-torn Afghanistan has been facing power shortages. The country has imported electricity from neighboring countries, including Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Iran.

Earlier this month, Uzbekistan said it will continue to supply electricity to Afghanistan without disruptions after reports said that the country may face energy problems due to unpaid debts to electricity exporting countries. Enditem
