BISHKEK, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- The victims of food poisoning that occurred in the popular cafe chain Pizza Empire in Kyrgyzstan's capital have grown to 179, the country's health ministry reported on Tuesday.

Until 11:00 a.m. local time (0500 GMT), the total number of people who had requested medical help from health care organizations in Bishkek and Chui Oblast due to food poisoning had reached 179, including 18 children, it said.

Currently, 50 victims are receiving inpatient care, and their condition is assessed by doctors as stable. The rest of the victims were sent for outpatient treatment after receiving primary care, said the ministry.

The first 12 victims of mass poisoning had asked for medical help on Oct. 23-24.

In the course of the epidemiological investigation, it was found that the victims had eaten rolls at Pizza Empire cafes located in four different parts of the city.

At the moment, all cafe chains are temporarily closed. Enditem
