COPENHAGEN, April 12 (Xinhua) -- A one-day "stress test" of 100,000 vaccinations against COVID-19, the largest of its kind in Denmark, is being conducted in vaccination sites throughout the country on Monday, according to the Danish Health Authority.
"We must ensure that we are ready to roll out the vaccines on a large scale -- that the vaccination sites have the capacity to vaccinate 100,000 in one day, and that the logistics and IT system can cope with the pressure. We test the systems at a total of 68 vaccination sites across the country," Steen Dalsgaard Jespersen, head of Unit at the Danish Health Authority, said in a press release.
The test examines the setup around logistics, distribution, invitations and bookings to see how prepared the regions are to vaccinate on the large scale that is needed when the country's vaccination plan gets into full swing.
"Results and experiences from all 68 vaccination sites will be collected for an overall evaluation. They will be used to adjust the rollout plans if needed. After that, everyone will be ready to vaccinate with the larger amounts of vaccines we expect to receive in the coming months," said the press release.
Monday's massive vaccination rollout is in line with the Danish Health Authority's ultimate plan to be able to vaccinate up to 400,000 a day by this June.
As of April 11, more than 883,300 Danes, or 15.1 percent of the population, had received at least one COVID-19 vaccine jab, according to the updated data from the Statens Serum Institut on Monday. Enditem
