BERLIN, May 7 (Xinhua) -- German tech giant Siemens announced on Friday that its revenues increased by 6 percent year-on-year to reach almost 14.7 billion euros (17.8 billion U.S. dollars) in the second quarter (Q2) of the company's fiscal year 2021.

Net income rose to 2.4 billion euros between January and March 2021, compared with 700 million euros in Q2 last year, according to Siemens.

"I am extremely pleased that all our businesses are delivering excellent results and that we are growing profitably - despite continuing uncertainties," said Roland Busch, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Siemens AG, in a statement.

China recorded "strong growth" compared to the same quarter of the previous year as orders and revenues increased by 42 percent each in Q2, according to Siemens.

"Growth momentum came, in particular, from the automotive industry, machine building, our software business and - from a geographic perspective - from China," said Ralf Thomas, chief financial officer (CFO) of Siemens AG, in a statement. Enditem
