MOSCOW, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday that Russia and Belarus will joint hands to strengthen national security in the face of Western pressure.

"Taking into account the openly aggressive policies of our (Western) colleagues, we agreed to coordinate efforts to strengthen the sovereignty and national security of our countries," Lavrov said at a press conference following a meeting with Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei in Moscow.

The Russian top diplomat said that European Union policies, such as sanctions and disinformation campaigns, toward Russia and Belarus are far from constructive.

Lavrov said that both Russia and Belarus will continue their cooperation in improving integration within the Union State and the Eurasian Economic Union. Enditem
