JERUSALEM, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Israeli authorities have issued tenders for 2,572 new housing units in the occupied West Bank and annexed East Jerusalem, an Israeli settlement watchdog said on Wednesday.

The tenders include some 2,112 new homes in the Wes Bank and additional 460 new homes in East Jerusalem, Peace Now, an Israeli human rights group that monitors the settlements, said in a statement.

Additional tenders were issued for the construction of industry and commerce buildings, Peace Now said.

The tenders were published online on Tuesday by the housing ministry and the Israel Land Authority, a government agency in charge of managing lands in Israel.

The settlements are located in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, both are territories captured by Israel in the 1967 Middle East war and where the Palestinians wish to build their future state. Shortly after the war, Israel annexed East Jerusalem, claiming it part of its capital.

Most of the international community has never recognized the annexation. Enditem
