JERUSALEM, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport on Thursday reopened its main landing runway after three huge cranes placed at a nearby construction site were lowered, the Israel Airports Authority (IAA) said.
This is one of the three runways at the country's main airport, located near the coastal city of Tel Aviv.
The runway was closed by the IAA on Feb. 17 to avoid the possibility that planes landing at the airport might collide with the cranes.
The IAA went to the court requesting an order directing the construction company to lower or dismantle the cranes. Being ordered to reduce the hazard immediately by the court, the company announced on Wednesday that it had completed the task.
The company informed the court that the cranes were lowered to less than 86 meters.
The cranes were set up as part of a real estate project in the city of Or Yehuda.
The project includes the construction of an area of 400,000 square meters accommodating 13 office towers, shops, hotels, parks, and an artificial lake. Enditem
