BEIRUT, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese President Michel Aoun said on Wednesday that Lebanon will start needed reforms and talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank soon, a statement by Lebanon's Presidency reported.
"We will initiate talks with the IMF and World Bank for financing, as there is an international will to help us," Aoun said during his meeting at Baabda Palace with a delegation from the labor confederation, adding economy will be the main priority in the coming period.
Aoun said that the new cabinet will launch several projects, including the construction of power stations and the reconstruction of the Beirut port which was destroyed by two huge explosions on Aug. 4, 2020.
Lebanon formed on Sept. 10 a new cabinet after a long period of political vacuum in the country in hope to implement much needed reforms and unlock foreign aid to save the country from its current collapse. Enditem
