TEHRAN, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the need to resolve differences through dialogue in a telephone conversation on Tuesday.

The ministers discussed the latest developments in the Iranian-Azerbaijani relationship, and stressed the need for mutual respect regarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries, according to a report on the Iranian Foreign Ministry's official website.

Abdollahian said the two countries must prevent misunderstandings, and Iran expects that the current problem of the Iranian trucks transiting through the Azerbaijani territory will be solved.

Bayramov described the relations between the two countries as friendly, and said the ties with friendly countries are a priority for Baku, it reported.

The Azerbaijani minister proposed talks between customs officials of the two countries to solve the transit problem of Iranian goods.

Tensions have mounted recently between Iran and Azerbaijan over the transportation of Iranian goods to Armenia.

Iran has also voiced its concerns regarding alleged activities in recent years against Iranian national security from Azerbaijani soil, while Baku has denied the allegations. Enditem
