DAMASCUS, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Friday to attend the upcoming Arab summit scheduled for March 29-30.Abbas was received by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad at Damascus International Airport.
Abbas came as Arab foreign ministers renewed commitment to the Arab peace initiative during their preparatory meeting on Thursday ahead of the 20th Arab summit.
Palestinian National Authority Minister of Foreign Affairs Reyad al-Maliki on Thursday joined the meeting of the Arab League foreign ministers, which hammered out the summit's agenda. The preparatory meeting also adopted a draft resolution on the Palestinian issue, the Arab-Israeli conflict and the Arab peace initiative, stressing commitment to the just and comprehensive peace as a strategic option.
