PYONGYANG, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), has called on the DPRK people to build a "great prosperous powerful nation" by their own efforts, resources and technology, the official Rodong Sinmun daily said on Tuesday.

Kim made the remarks while inspecting a newly-built tile producer, the Taedonggang Tile Factory, said the report, without giving the date and venue of the visit.

He was satisfied that the factory had established a production system "strictly relying on locally available raw materials," and called for applying advanced technology and steadily boosting the level of technical skill of workers in order to improve the quality of building materials, according to the report.

Kim also urged the workers to increase the production of building materials in order to guarantee high qualities of buildings and make cities look more beautiful.
