LONDON – A series of family pictures of Prince William's bride-to-be Kate Middleton, including a previously unseen photo of the couple together, were released on Monday.

The five pictures taken by the Middleton family were published on the official website, www.officialroyalwedding2011.org/, for next month's wedding along with a detailed biography of the prince's fiancee.

The photos show Middleton, aged five, smiling at the camera; climbing a rock while on holiday aged three-and-a-half in the Lake District area of northwest England; and on holiday in Jerash in Jordan with her father and sister Pippa.

There is also a picture of Middleton on the day of her graduation from St Andrews University in Scotland in June 2005 and a picture of her and William looking relaxed with their arms around each other's waists, taken on the same day.

Middleton's biography also reveals details of her personal interests, suggesting she is a keen sports fan, playing tennis, hockey, and netball for her school and hockey for her university.

Acid-tongued critics who have accused Middleton and her family of being social climbers will probably enjoy the fact that she also represented her school in athletics, particularly the high jump.

"Catherine's hobbies include recreational sports such as hill walking, tennis, swimming, sailing, and the arts such as photography and painting," the biography says.
