Afghan National Army soldiers receive training during a mission in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital city of northern Afghan province of Balkh, on March 26, 2012.

The Afghan government and NATO Training Mission in Afghanistan (NTM-A) have stepped up efforts to train and equip Afghan police and army as NATO-led ISAF forces have handed over the security responsibilities of several areas across the country to Afghanistan.
