The Russian Air Force turns 100 on August 12th and celebrations started Friday. An air show has been launched in Zhukovsky, outside Moscow.
The three-day show will see pilots pulling off aerial stuntwork in more than a hundred aircraft - including first and second world war era planes. The fliers will not only be from Russia, however.
Display teams from the UK, France, Finland, Turkey, Poland and others will take part. The Russian airforce was established in 1912 during the rule of Tsar Nicholas Second when the country’s Defence department created an air division within the General Staff.
