Chinese State Councilor to escort Sihanouk’s coffin back

Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo will escort the coffin of the late Cambodian King-Father Norodom Sihanouk back to Phnom Penh Wednesday, Oct. 17.

On schedule, Sihanouk’s bier will go through Cambodia’s landmarks, the Russia Avenue and the Independence Monument Square, before being placed in the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh.

Dubbed as Cambodia’s Father of Constitutional Government, also Father of Independence, Sihanouk’s passing away is deeply grieved and mourned by the Cambodian people, and thousands of them have already thronged in the square of the Royal Palace, holding white lotus flowers in hand , praying for the safe return of the King-Father’s coffin.

Cambodians mourn King-Father in Phnom Penh

Throngs of Cambodians on Tuesday laid roses and lotus flowers in front of the capital's Royal Palace to mourn Norodom Sihanouk who died of natural causes Monday at the age of 90.
