Hundreds of demonstrators have gathered outside Starbucks cafes across Britain over tax avoidance and cuts to public services.

The protests come two days after US-owned Starbucks said it would pay around 20 million pounds, or 32 million dollars in British corporation tax over the next two years.

Media has criticized Starbucks for paying just 8.6 million pounds in 14 years of trading in Britain, and nothing in the last three years.

Protesters are asking the British government to take urgent action on tax avoidance of foreign firms, rather than cutting welfare and health service budgets.
