CBA: Beasley earns MVP award after scoring 59 points

BEIJING, Jan. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- The biggest stars in the CBA took to the court at Beijing's Wukesong stadium -- and the brightest star on this night would be Michael Beasley. The Shanghai Shark forward setting a record by pumping in 59 points to lead the South over the North.

The pre-game showcase would include a city scape of the Capital, replete with several of the iconic venues in the city.

The North team boast the stars like Stephon Marbury and Andray Blatche, while the South feature a domestic line-up led by Guangdong center Yi Jianlian.

The North start on a 13-2 run. Yi scoring the only two points for the South.

Beasley then helps the South come back.

With little defensive pressure, the American forward scores on the one-handed slam, before showing off his ability from distance.

Beasley would have 13 slams on the night.

Blatche has the answer for the North with power jam and finishes with 25 points and seven rebounds.

Beasley's 59 points is the highest in the history of the All-Star Game, but the matador defence helped. The former number two overall pick in the NBA leads the South to a 142-123 victory over the North. He also wins the All-Star MVP award.

Madanly prevails 3-pointer event while Luo wins slams

During half-time of the Game, the Beijing Ducks' guard Fang Shuo would winsthe skills competition, finishing the obstacle course in just under 30 seconds.

In the three-pointers competition, the Foshan Long Lions' Michel Madanly beats Li Jingyu in extra session to win the honor.

In the slam competiton, Luo Kaiwen of the Bayi Rockets would eaqrn the highest point total from the judges to win the trophy.
