Portuguese PM sends condolences to Paris attack victim family

LISBON, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Portuguese outgoing Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho sent his condolences to the family of a Paris terror attacks victim, expressing his "deep sorrow and dismay" over the tragedy.

"I want, at this time of deep sorrow and dismay, to present on my own behalf, my government and the Portuguese people, our most sincere condolences for the tragic death of Mr. Manuel Colaco Dias, a victim of the heinous terrorist attacks yesterday perpetrated in the French capital," Passos Coelho said in a letter.

All the Portuguese people share with the bereaved family "grief and mourning that the moment requires, a solidarity based on the most fundamental values of human dignity," he said.

"Our thoughts and our solidarity are today with your family and with the large Portuguese community in France deeply affected by this tragedy we all reject and will never be forgotten."

According to the latest report, at least 129 people were killed and 352 injured, of whom at least 99 were in critical condition, in the terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday night.

The extremist group Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
