ANKARA, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Turkish military said one Islamic State (IS) suspect was killed and 21 others, including nine children, were detained on Turkey-Syria border on Wednesday.

The suspected IS militants were trying to illegally cross from Syria to southern Turkish city of Kilis.

Meanwhile, eight suspected IS militants were detained at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport before planning to enter Germany illegally, semi-official Anadolu Agency reported on Wednesday.

They departed from Casablanca in Morocco to Istanbul for "touristic purposes," but a drawing was recovered from one of the suspects that revealed a planned route from Turkey's western Izmir province to Germany, transiting through Greece, Serbia and Hungary.

Turkey has stepped up anti-terror operations against IS militants in the country, following twin blasts in the Turkish capital Ankara on Oct. 10. At least 102 civilians were killed and hundreds of others injured. The suicide bombers are from the IS and took orders from the group members in Syria, a prosecutor said.
