Highlights of Chinese president's activities in Uzbekistan

BEIJING, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao is the Uzbek capital of Tashkent on a state visit and to attend the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Following are the highlights of his activities on Thursday:

-- Hu met Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon and called for furthering cooperation between the two neighbors. Hu and Rakhmon exchanged views on bilateral relations and other issues of common concern.

-- Hu met his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev. The two leaders said they were ready to further advance bilateral relations and cooperation.

-- During meeting with Chairman of Uzbek Senate Ilgizar Sabirov, Hu said inter-parliamentary exchanges have played an important role in advancing the friendly and cooperative partnership between China and Uzbekistan.
