The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the country's price watchdog, ordered local authorities to strengthen supervision of market prices, especially for moon cakes, grain, meat, poultry, eggs, milk, vegetables and other food prices, during the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day holiday.

Local authorities should strengthen price supervision over large-scale grain wholesale markets, supermarkets and open fairs. Illegal actions such as driving up prices through price collusion or market speculation should be severely punished.

In addition, special efforts should be made to strictly implement the toll-free policy during the holidays. Local authorities should well prepared for the toll-free policy and prevent any illegal collection of charges.
