Terry Gou, Chairman of Taiwan-based Hon Hai Group, suggested Thursday to seek cooperation among private sector entities from the Chinese mainland, Taiwan and Japan to help settle the dispute over the Diaoyu Islands.

Gou proposed so at a lunch meeting of the Third Wednesday Club, a trade group of 58 enterprise elites who meet for lunch on the third Wednesday of every month. He said that Taiwan, the Chinese mainland and Japan should brush aside the dispute and join hands to develop the disputed waters.

Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou, who also attended the meeting, echoed Gou’s proposal saying that he is “quite approve of the idea”, and will give consideration to the power of private enterprises.
