SHANGHAI, April 10 -- Employees in China will enjoy a weeklong holiday from May 1 to May 7 for Labor Day, the State Council said today.

But they must work the preceding weekends of April 28-29 as a swap.

Bosses have to pay three times of salary as overtime pay on the first three days of the "golden week."

China launched three golden weeks from 1999, which are the Spring Festival, May Day holiday and National Day holiday.
