Murder suspect Oscar Pistorius has been chosen as the face of this week's Time Magazine.

The Paralympic ‘Blade Runner’ appears on the front cover bare-chested and with an icy glare.

The headline 'Man Superman Gunman' accompanies a dramatic full-length picture of the athlete.

Writer Alex Perry's article is entitled 'Pistorius And South Africa's Culture Of Violence'.

The picture of Pistorius - taken by Pieter Hugo - was first used in the New York Times last year.

Time is well known for its impactful and often controversial front covers.

It has the world's largest circulation for a weekly news magazine, and has a readership of 25 million, 20 million of which are in the US.

Pistorius is not thought to have appeared on page one of the magazine before.

He is currently on bail for allegedly murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day.
