The charity organsiation Save the Children has released a video from inside Gaza of a 12-year-old Palestinian boy's grim life during the current Israeli offensive.

Twelve-year-old Mohamed Soboh and his family are sheltering in an UNRWA School in Gaza City. He was recently forced to flee his family home alongside his parents and nine siblings following the intensifying Israeli offensive in Gaza. Mohamed is one of at least 13,000 Palestinians who have been forced to seek shelter as the bombardment continues. Israel says it is pursuing its offensive with the aim of stopping Hamas rocket attacks on Israeli soil.

This is home for Mohamed Soboh.

The 12-year-old is living rough in a UN school with his parents and nine siblings.

They were forced to flee their home in northern Gaza.

"The Jews came when we were sleeping. They started shooting at the house, in the morning they continued shooting and forced us to leave. We came here with no clothes and no shoes, just as we are - nobody is looking out for us."

Half of the displaced people in Gaza are children.

And many have experienced some unimaginable horrors.

"The martyrs were in the streets with no ambulance to get them and no Red Cross. If anyone tried to reach the bodies, they would shoot at them."

Mohamed's father says he's frustrated because he can't protect his family.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) DISPLACED FATHER OF MOHAMED, FAHED SOBOH SAYING:

"We came to the UN school and for the first two nights we slept in the cold. Our children were on our laps until they provided us with some blankets but that wasn't enough. It's a very cold winter and there is no electricity or water for much of the time."

"I don't sleep! I stay awake all the night afraid. We sleep on the street and everyone looks at us. We want to learn like them, we want houses and we want to be happy and play like them."

There's little chance of that at the moment.

Watching the latest air strikes is the only form of entertainment here.
