2009-02-25 08:28:13 GMT2009-02-25 16:28:13 (Beijing Time)  Reuters

A NASA rocket carrying a climate satellite failed to successfully launch into orbit and fell into the ocean near Antarctica.

The Orbiting Carbon Observatory (OCO), costing 278 million (USD), was designed to study global carbon dioxide emissions. If the satellite proves unsalvageable it will come as a huge blow to climate change scientists.
