Progressive Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg, already famous for promoting flexible work schedules and leaving work promptly at 5:30, believes it's OK to cry at work.
While delivering the keynote address to graduating students at Harvard Business School, opining on career advice, gender issues and clandestine breast pumping during conference calls, she said, "I've cried at work. I've told people I've cried at work." While this, of course, goes against popular opinion, the brave and provocative disclosure is simply a matter-of-fact reality of the human condition which shouldn't necessarily be perceived as a negative. Driving the point home, Sandberg added "It is all professional and it is all personal, all at the very same time."
