BEIJING, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- "The Rescue," a disaster action film that saw its originally scheduled release postponed due to COVID-19, is set to land in theaters on Feb. 12, 2021, the Spring Festival or Chinese New Year's Day.

Directed by Dante Lam, the award-winning helmsman of the 2018 blockbuster film "Operation Red Sea" that grossed 3.65 billion yuan (about 545 million U.S. dollars) in China, the new drama portrays the bravery of a maritime emergency response team, with its leader played by Eddie Peng.

It is among a total of five films that have so far unveiled their schedule for release during the Spring Festival holiday, a major moviegoing season in China.

The four other films include the highly anticipated "Detective Chinatown 3," the newest installment in the well-received "Detective Chinatown" film franchise; "New Gods: Nezha Reborn," a new animated film from Light Chaser Animation, the same production company behind the 2019 animated movie "White Snake"; "Assassin in Red," a fantasy thriller film based on a novel co-starring popular actress Yang Mi; "Ren Chao Xiong Yong," a comedy drama co-starring singer and actor Andy Lau.
