DALIAN, China, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai Shenhua and Jiangsu Suning played out a 0-0 stalemate in the 12th round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) here on Monday.

The first half did not witness any aggressive attacks until the 40th minute, when 21-year-old defender Wen Jiabao dribbled the ball from the front field to the box, skipped through Brazilian Joao Miranda and volleyed from a close range, but was denied by Suning goalkeeper Gu Chao.

In the second half, veteran Cao Yunding left the pitch after he got a thigh strain while running fast.

In the 62nd minute, Suning midfielder Alex Teixeira Santos' back pass found Wu Xi in the box, who contributed a volley but the ball flew over the cross bar.

In the 68th minute, Shenhua new signing Fidel Martinez got off the bench and made his debut in the CSL.

"I am very happy to represent Shenhua. I think it is a tough game and our opponents are very strong, but even one point is important to us," said Martinez after the game.
