Martin brace fires America past Guadalajara in Liga MX

MEXICO CITY, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Mexico international forward Henry Martin scored a brace as Club America extended their winning streak to four matches with a 3-0 victory at Guadalajara in the Liga MX on Sunday.

Martin gave the visitors the lead by heading in just before halftime and again nodded home from a corner in the 75th minute. Francisco Cordova completed the rout with a close-range strike 11 minutes from time.

The hosts were forced to play the last 18 minutes with 10 men after Miguel Ponce was shown a straight red card for scything down Leonardo Suarez.

The result meant America remained second in the 18-team standings with eight wins, one draw and two losses, two points behind leaders Cruz Azul.

In other Liga MX fixtures on Sunday, Queretaro won 2-1 at home to Atletico San Luis and Pachuca prevailed 2-0 at Toluca. Enditem
