BERLIN, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Yussuf Poulsen's equalizer helped a clinical Denmark to reap a late 1-1 draw against dominant Germany at the Tivoli Stadion Tirol on Wednesday.

After a slow start, Germany assumed control and controlled possession as Florian Neuhaus tested Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel for the first time from the edge of the box in the 12th minute.

Two minutes later, Thomas Muller made too little out of Joshua Kimmich's pinpoint cross after heading straight into the arms of Schmeichel.

Denmark lacked in ideas and posed no threat in front of Germany's target while the Germans lacked accuracy as Mats Hummels missed Kimmich's free kick in the 35th minute before Serge Gnabry rattled the woodwork ten minutes later.

After the restart, Joachim Low's men came out with their guns blazing and got rewarded with the opener in the 48th minute when Neuhaus tapped home a deflected cross from six meters into the top right corner.

Denmark tried to respond, but Germany was a menace on the counter, and Schmeichel neutralized Robin Gosens's attempt from a tight angle and Matthias Ginter's header at the hour mark.

Denmark increased the pressure as substitute Kasper Dolberg pulled wide with 65 minutes gone before Poulsen stunned Germany out of the blue after making the most of Christian Eriksen's deep through ball in the 71st minute.

Germany had the golden chance to grab a late win, but for all that Kimmich rattled only the crossbar from three meters in the 77th minute.

Kasper Hjulmand's men clash with Bosnia and Herzegovina for a friendly match on Sunday whereas Germany hosts Latvia on Monday.

"I have seen a lot of good things tonight but not everything is perfect yet. It is good that we have seen these issues before the tournament starts," Muller said.

"We defended very well but we made our life difficult. We now have to throw in a few intense training units before the game against Latvia, especially in the tactical area," said Low. Enditem
