Uganda to face off with South Africa in buildup to 2022 World Cup qualifiers

KAMPALA, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Uganda is set to face off with South Africa on June 10 in an international friendly game to prepare for the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers which kick off in September.

Ahmed Hussien, spokesperson of the Uganda football governing body, told Xinhua in an interview that the team will fly out to South Africa.

"The team will prepare for two days in South Africa before the game," added Hussien.

Abdallah Mubiru, the interim head coach of the national team, on Monday named the squad that will face South Africa, comprising of 15 local players and eight professionals.

"We have been preparing well and the team is mixed with young and experienced players. We believe this friendly match will help the team prepare well ahead of other international matches to come," added Mubiru.

Egypt-based professional Emmanuel Arnold Okwi has been picked to be the captain of the team.
