WINDHOEK, June 17 (Xinhua) -- The Brave Warriors of Namibia were put in group C with Zimbabwe, Senegal and Mozambique in this year's Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) men senior Challenge Cup, following a draw on Thursday.

The COSAFA Cup will run from July 7 to 18 in Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa, which will also be the 20th edition of the regional competition that will see Africa's top ranked team from west Africa in Senegal appearing for the first time as the invited team from another region.

In other groups, host South Africa is in group A alongside Lesotho, Eswatini and Botswana, while group B consists of Zambia, Malawi, Madagascar and Comoros.

Speaking to Xinhua after the draw, Namibia team head coach Bobby Samaria said he was looking forward to the competition even though the Namibia Football Association (NFA) was still sourcing for funding to go to the COSAFA Cup.

"It is a very tough draw. The COSAFA Cup competition is always a good competition for players to showcase their talents especially the local based players. Since we did not play friendly matches this month like other countries, it gives us a good opportunity to give our players game time," said Samaria. Enditem
