BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Beijing Guoan midfielder Li Ke's chances to play this season are being left in doubt after he revealed that he is suffering from an "uncommon injury".

Li, also known as Nico Yennaris, has reportedly left southen Meizhou, where the Beijing side are being camped to play their first part of the Chinese Super League fixtures, for Beijing to seek treatment for his recurring injury.

"Over last year, I've been battling an injury/condition rare to see in footballers. After two successful surgeries and the hope of getting back to playing finally we hit another hurdle," Li wrote on social media on Tuesday.

"Each day I fight to get back on the pitch and it's been the toughest mental battle to keep going at times dealing with such an uncommon injury," he added.

Li joined up with the Beijing team in mid-May after coming back from England where he received an ankle operation in late November and has since stayed there for rehabilitation.

He mainly trained at the gym instead of taking part in any team training after returning to the Beijing squad, the head coach of Beijing Guoan Xie Feng said.

According to Beijing local media reports, Li, who is in Beijing to receive treatment, will miss the first part of Beijing Guoan's fixtures of this season, which is to kick off on Friday.

It also depends on how well he can recover from this rare injury to decide if he can play this season.
