WASHINGTON, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Gulf Coast braced for another tropical weather strike after Zeta raked across Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said Tuesday.

After weakening to a tropical storm, it is forecast to regain hurricane strength before hitting the Gulf Coast sometime Wednesday evening.

The storm was expected to bring a new round of high water and strong winds to the state of Louisiana that already this year has been hit by two tropical storms and two hurricanes, Laura and Delta, which exacerbated Laura's damage in the same area weeks later.

Hurricane warnings went up from the central Louisiana coast to the Alabama state line. Its approach frayed nerves in New Orleans, where thousands of evacuees left homeless by Laura are sheltered in hotels. Enditem
