5.0-magnitude quake hits 250 km S. of False Pass, Alaska -- USGS

BEIJING, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 jolted 250 km South of False Pass, Alaska, the United States at 18:27 on Tuesday (0327 GMT on Wednesday), the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 35.53 km, was initially determined to be at 52.6467 degrees north latitude and 162.6788 degrees west longitude.

There have been no immediate reports about casualties or damage after the earthquake.

Alaska is located in a seismically active zone, therefore, earthquakes are regularly reported there. On the evening of Oct. 19 local time, a 7.5-magnitude earthquake jolted the waters off southern Alaska with no reports of casualties or damage. Enditem
