ULAN BATOR, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia confirmed one more COVID-19 case after carrying out 17,529 tests in the last 24 hours, a local health official said on Saturday.

The latest case involves a nurse of the country's National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD), Amarjargal Ambaselmaa, head of the center's Surveillance Department, told a press conference.

Mongolia has registered 906 confirmed cases as of Saturday, including 472 locally transmitted cases, of which around 20 involved health workers, the center said.

The first locally transmitted case in Mongolia was found in a woman, whose 29-year-old husband, a transport driver, returned from Russia and tested positive for the virus four days after he was released from a 21-day mandatory isolation on Nov. 6.

The Asian country's nationwide lockdown, imposed on Nov. 12, expired on Dec. 1. The government has extended the restriction measures in Ulan Bator and the provinces of Selenge and Arkhangai until Dec. 14. Enditem
