YANGON, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities seized 27.35 kilograms of heroin in the central Mandalay region, according to a release from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, the joint anti-narcotic police confiscated heroin worth 1.9 billion kyats (1.4 million U.S. dollars) from a truck in the Mogok township on Tuesday.
The township police filed a case against three suspects in connection with the case, the release said.
According to a latest release issued by the President's Office, more than 1,450 drug-related cases have been registered with some 2,220 people charged across Myanmar since the country's Drug Activity Special Complaint Department was set up on June 26, 2018. Enditem
