Uzbekistan's trade turnover drops 13.1 pct in 2020

TASHKENT, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover amounted to 36.3 billion U.S. dollars in 2020, down 13.1 percent from 2019, the Uzbek State Statistics Committee said Thursday.

Uzbekistan's exports amounted to 15.1 billion dollars and imports totaled 21.1 billion dollars last year, resulting in a 6-billion-dollar foreign trade deficit, it said.

China ranked first in Uzbekistan's largest trade partners, with a share of 17.7 percent, followed by Russia, Kazakhstan and South Korea, according to the data provided by the committee.

Precious metals remained the country's main export item, the data showed, while the major import commodities were machinery and equipment. Enditem
