TASHKENT, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan will introduce some restrictions on mass cultural events and wedding ceremonies starting from April 1 amid surging COVID-19 infections, authorities said Wednesday.

According to the country's special commission to combat coronavirus, theaters, cinema halls and other mass cultural activity venues must use only 50 percent of their seating capacity, check body temperatures and ensure mask-wearing.

The daily count of infections have increased to over 100 over the last weeks in Uzbekistan, which so far has registered 81,559 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 622 related deaths. Enditem
