COLOMBO, April 21 (Xinhua) -- The international Mrs. World Inc. Organization, on Wednesday said it had accepted the resignation of Mrs. World Caroline Jurie, a Sri Lankan national after she had decided to hand over her crown.

Mrs. World, in a statement on Wednesday said that following Jurie's resignation, the first runner up at last year's international pageant, Mrs. Ireland World, Kate Schneider, will now become the new Mrs. World 2020.

Caroline Jurie was crowned the Mrs. World 2020 and was to hold the international crown till December this year. But she had decided to hand over her crown after she uncrowned the Mrs. Sri Lanka 2021 winner in a pageant held in Colombo in early April, claiming the winner was a divorcee and therefore was ineligible to contest in the Mrs. World 2021 international pageant to be held in December.

Since then Jurie had been arrested by the police after a complaint was lodged by the pageant winner Pushpika De Silva and released on bail. Enditem
