ULAN BATOR, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's COVID-19 tally rose to 350,604 with 1,095 new infections reported in the past day, the health ministry said Monday.
Among the latest confirmed cases, 808 were detected in the nation's capital Ulan Bator, which is the region hardest hit by COVID-19, and home to over half of the country's population of 3.4 million.
Meanwhile, the country's death toll increased to 1,593 after six more COVID-19 patients died in the past day.
Currently, 19,093 COVID-19 patients are being treated in hospitals across the country, while 47,487 are receiving home-based care due to a shortage of hospital beds and medical staff, according to the ministry.
The resurgence of the virus has continued due to the highly contagious Delta variant, although 65.7 percent of the population has received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
The country's health authorities have urged the public to avoid mass gatherings, wear masks in public and receive a booster shot. Enditem
