JERUSALEM, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Israeli military's chief Aviv Kochavi on Sunday warned that attacks against Iranian targets in Syria will continue, two days after Israel allegedly assassinated an Iranian nuclear scientist.

"Our message is clear: we will continue to act as vigorously as necessary against the Iranian entrenchment in Syria," Kochavi said during a visit to the army's division in the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights, according to a statement issued by the military.

Kochavi attended a situation assessment meeting at the division and told the commanders that "it is crucial to maintain awareness" in the wake of possible developments in the region.

Israel's Mossad intelligence agency has been accused of standing behind the assassination of Iran's senior nuclear physicist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh on Friday.

Israel has admitted carrying out "hundreds" of airstrikes in Syria. According to Israel, the attacks targeted Iranian sites in order to prevent Iranian forces to establish a military presence in Syria. Enditem
