SANAA, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthi rebels said they launched eight ballistic missiles and 12 explosive-laden drones towards Aramco oil facilities in five locations in Saudi Arabia on Friday.
"The ballistic missiles and drones targeted Aramco oil facilities in the kingdom's western and northeastern areas of Ras Tanura, Rabigh, Yanbu, Jazan and Dammam," Yehya Sarea, the Houthi military spokesman, said in a statement aired by the group's al-Masirah TV.
"The military operation achieved its goals successfully. We warn Saudi Arabia against its continuing aggression and blockade on Yemen and we affirm our readiness to carry out more powerful military operations in the coming days," he added.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Defense Ministry said that a projectile launched by the Houthi rebels hit an oil facility in Jazan, according to a statement cited by Saudi Arabia's Alhadtah TV.
The attacks came a few days after Saudi Arabia offered a comprehensive peace initiative to the Yemeni warring parties to end Yemen's six years of civil war, which the Houthis rejected.
The Houthis have stepped up cross-border attacks against Saudi cities and oil facilities, but most of the attacks were foiled by the Saudi-led coalition forces.
Yemen marks the 6th anniversary of the intervention of the Saudi-led coalition on Friday.
The Arab country has been mired in a civil war since late 2014 when the Iran-backed Houthis seized control of several northern Yemeni provinces and forced the internationally-recognized government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi out of the capital Sanaa. Enditem
