DOHA, Qatar, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai Shenhua beat Perth Glory 2-1 in AFC Champions League here on Wednesday, snatching their first victory in the tournament in 11 years.

Shenhua broke the deadlock just after seven minutes as Zhu Jianrong received Yu Hanchao's precise cross and rolled it back to Peng Xinli, who smashed in a volley.

In the 38th minute, Shenhua managed to enlarge the lead with Yu demonstrating his prowess. The 33-year-old veteran dribbled through the defenders and contributed a close range tap-in.

Perth Glory pulled one back after defender Dane Ingham's first attempt was denied by Shenhua goalkeeper Li Shuai, and Jonathan Aspropotamitis's follow-up shot rolled in the goal.

"After finishing the intensive schedule of the Chinese Super League, we were a bit tired. But we united together to carry out the coach's tactics. All our opponents in the league are very strong and worthy of respect, so we need to take every game seriously," said Yu after the game. Enditem
